For centuries, nomadic culture and traditions have allowed Mongolian families to adapt and survive hard life conditions and develop a particular lifestyle. While the World is succumbing to modernaitzation and new technologies, nomadic families of the remotest parts of Mongolia are trying to maintain the traditions of their ancestors as a way of life. However, technology, climate change and irresponsible tourism are threatening the Mongolian people ancestral lifestyle forcing them to abandon their traditions and choosing sedentary habits moving towards the big cities. Nowadays more than a third of the population lives in Ulaan Bator and the cities around, searching for the possibility of an alternative way of earning a living and providing a better future for their families.
The arrival of massive tourism and therefore the chance to win a large sum of money by offering the "authentic" nomadic lifestyle in the summer months, has brought as a consequence that a large number of families living in remote locations had to move towards more touristic areas of the country. Those families take advantage of the weather benevolence and tourism to earn, in just a few days, the same amount of money that would take years of hard work to make under extreme weather conditions, leaving most parts of the country literally inhabited .
